Secure Passwords

Secure Your PasswordsThe First Line of Defense are Secure Passwords

OK here's the deal: Hacking is ridiculously simple and the easiest part is cracking passwords because 9 out of 10 people use a simple number sequence such as "123456", the name of their pet or a family member or my all time favorites the words "password" or "security."

Here is an example of a secure password:

NoW15@Go0DTym32r3s3TuRPW% (Now is a good time to reset your password)

3 = E
0 = O (zero = the letter O)
r = are
2 = to
UR = your
% = a spacer

H3r3 = here
15 = is
 @ = a
go0d = good
Tym3 = time
Tu = to or 2 = to
r3s3t = RESET

The combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers, symbols with the space bar (if possible, some sites do not allow this) making a mnemonic (a way to retain info).

USE DIFFERENT PASSWORDS FOR EACH SITE, E-MAIL, FACEBOOK OR SOCIAL MEDIA PAGES, AND MOST IMPORTANT YOUR COMPUTER. THE LONGER THE BETTER AND CHANGE THEM UP ONCE EVERY 6 MONTHS.

Yes this is a big pain in the a$$ but the alternative is not acceptable. If you own a business and your computer gets hacked into payroll could be made public, information and technology could be handed to competitors. Worse your identity could be stolen, the fastest rising crime on the planet right now. This last point applies to everyone! Protect yourself and your personal info and make strong and secure passwords.

Write them down and have a copy next to UR computer, keep a master list in a secure place, and last but not least memorize them. Keep those passwords safe! You do not want someone else getting a hold of your passwords especially if UR computer has many people on it. "Practice makes perfect." Over time that long password becomes easier to recall and it works the mind, a good thing yes!

PLAY SAFE!
